I have so many friends ask me about couponing and how I do it. Don't ask if you're not motiviated to give it a shot - it's not for everyone and it takes constant dedication and organization. Some of which I still lack as I walk aimless back and forth missing something in aisle ONE but hey - I make it work to benefit our family and overall, our lifestyle.
I first have to say that I owe all my success to a friend named Lindsay. She taught me the way of the land and really dragged me into this kicking and screaming at first. Now, we religiously shop weekly together at our favorite location - Publix Supermarkets in St. Petersburg. The people know us, love us and sometimes run out on lunch when they see us coming :)
Let's talk about how I first got started with this couponing world. Prior to this - I never bought a newspaper and the thought of touching one really and truly made me ill. Something about how it feels - icky! Lindsay convinced me to go to the store with her - I don't recall the exact trip but she ended up saving more than she spent. I was baffled - could NOT BELIEVE such a thing was even possible. I was literally watching my back leaving the store wondering what manager was going to tackle us for getting away with so much for so little!
Well, here I am now over a year later, seasoned but by no means a pro and most importantly... YET to be tackled for leaving with my goods for so little.
You can do it - I told myself I will do this and make a positive impact for my family but not having to worry about how much my bill is "this" time. I never want to be the girl in the store putting back items because it's over my budget... I refuse and you should too. Get what you need for your family and get abundance to build your nest as my favorite site says.
That brings me to www.TrueCouponing.net. Such talented people and such amazing motivation to help others. Check out their site - like right now - you're missing out on a whole new world.
I decided to attend a class and left feeling like sky is the limit. I ended up getting 4 - yes, I really said 4, newspaper delivered to my home on Sunday's. Then I shoo my husband out the door every Sunday morning to grab them up (in fear of idiots stealing my papers - true story). As my helper he removes that ick icky newspaper covering and leaves me the goods - the meat - the coupon ads. I note the date on top of each SmartSource, Red Plum, P&G and whatever other goodies are enclosed - and file those babies away.
Tip - do NOT look at the ads. You will start clipping away and mess it all up. Don't... don't... don't
Then like clock work I log onto www.TrueCouponing.net, find my store, create my list, pull my coupons and eagerly dream about couponing for the next day. Think I'm kidding - you'll get there too. Right now, you think I'm a tool :)
Today's trip prompted me to share with others...
